Good Book to get for an 8 Year Old with Social/Repect Issues?

Question

I was wondering if anyone knew of a good book to get for an 8 year old with severe social/respect issues. His parents are not doing a good job with this one. He is home schooled, pretty much gets away with everything & is only happy when the world revolves around him. I sure some of it is just reaching out for attention, but he needs to learn a better way to do this.

I am talking about my cousin. His behavior is so bad, my grandparents who LOVE everyone can't stand to be around him.

His problems consist of the following: he flips people off (not really he uses his pointer finger, but he means it that way), he interrupts conversations ALL the time (you pretty much can't have one around him), he doesn't respect other peoples things, etc...

Looking for book suggestions that convey the proper way to act. I would prefer if the book wasn't blantly obviously, but ones where the story convey this general idea. The story needs to good, so he will actually read it. So, any ideas?

The Veggie Tales are loved by pre-school through adult as they are very colorful, musical, etc. There are many books, DVDs, and other accessories that go with it. They teach Biblical concepts to children, dealing with issues such as kindness, respect, love, caring, etc.

I don't know about books and I understand that since the child isn't yours so that you can't really discipline them, but what you CAN do is try not to reward his behavior by paying attention to him when he does it. You may have heard this before, I assume he doesn't have a sibling, but if you could maybe spend time with him and another, more well behaved child his age and reward that child for acting normally, while ignoring him when he misbehaves, depriving him of any attention, that should be a start to correcting his behavior. Sorry I didn't have a book for ya! he's probably a little too old for "where the wild things are" good luck in any case.

Go to Borders, they have books seperated for kids by age category. I was there last night and saw a lot of books about feelings, respect, etc

Sounds like he is taking things for grandted. Try http://bethlehembooks.com/ our company has typeset books for them before and they are really good about childrens books and "moral to the story" type of thing. Good luck.

bible and you need to punish him more and tell him the consequences, i know it is hard to be a young mom, but don't be scared to step in and show him that there is authority in life and you are his authority. advice from a 15 year old but good advice.
