Make sure that he doesn't eat anything sugary for at least two hours before he goes to bed. This includes natural sugar, like orange juice. I got some sleepytime tea for my daughter, which is a children's version, at Whole Foods Market. If you don't have a Whole Foods Market (store chain) then go to your local health food store. You can start to wind him down about 1 hour before bed by making a cup of this tea and put a little milk in it. It is very weak, so don't worry. NO COOKIES with IT!! Just the tea. Also, try giving him a soothing bath to help him wind down. He may be having too much sugar during the day. He may have to cut that out or at least cut down. The next thing you have to ask yourself - is he getting enough excercise? Does he stay for an after school program where physical play is emphasized? If not, he may need that. If he is so wound up that he tosses and turns all night, then something definitely needs to be done, so that he has expended enough physical energy during the day to make him TIRED!! He should be totally OUT if he is getting enough excercise. The other possibility is that he has anxiety about something and does not know how to express it, so it is affecting him during his sleep. Talk with him and see if there is anything bothering him that he would like to talk about. He may not even be aware how much something is bothering him. If all of the above do not work within a week or so, I would definitely take him to his primary care physician for a physical and when there, make strong mention of the problem to the doctor. Hope this helps...!

We have an 8 year old daughter who tosses and turns a lot, too. Late last fall, we went camping and I bundled her up in warm jammies, a sleeping bag and several blankets to keep her warm. I noticed that she did not toss and turn all night. When we got home, I put flannel sheets on her bed and bought her a down comforter. She also has a heated mattress pad for really cold nights. For her, being warm improved the tossing and turning. We also found she was quite sensitive to things that she saw and heard during the day so we cut her TV watching way back and really watched what we discussed in her hearing. Taking time at night to put on a small light and sit with her for a few minutes has also helped. She has had problems with night terrors and she seems to be having those less frequently as well.

It actually sounds to me like the health care service's no longer assisting a lot. have you ever gotten a chest x-ray? i do not comprehend in case you've experienced croup earlier, yet a croup cough isn't diffused; you would comprehend if he had it, he'd sound like he's barking and also you would see his chest heaving. it really is by no skill typical for somewhat one to be unwell that lengthy, I doubt that it really is the flu, yet pneumonia is a danger. Does he have bronchial asthma? i'm constructive you're already doing this, yet basically in case- run a humidifier in his room, try giving him some weak decaf tea with honey in it, and vicks rub is an previous standby for coughs. actually i might want to pick to work out a respiratory professional if issues do not advance very quickly. Sorry you're dealing with this, it really is poor even as little childrens are unwell.

Is his bed comfortable? I have trouble sleeping myself if I'm not comfortable.

Also, ask him why he thinks he's tossing and turning. You may want to take him to a sleep specialist if it's something more involved than not being comfortable in bed.

My son went through a stage of night "terrors" where he would get up and scream in terror. It's not nightmares, it's night terrors.

I found a good multi-vitamin helped alot, especially calcium which is a natural calming vitamin for stress.

good luck

Maybe he's hungry, or the room temp is too warm?
